Call for Applications: SAIS Investment Readiness Programme 2025

For African Tech Startups in Agriculture, Livestock, Food and Climate

The SAIS Investment Readiness Programme (IRP) is offering a unique opportunity for African tech startups in the agriculture, livestock, food, and climate sectors. This year-long, tailor-made company development program aims to support innovative startups in raising investments and scaling their businesses.

What the Program Offers

The SAIS IRP provides a comprehensive suite of services worth up to €35,000 to selected startups, including:

  • Personalized mentorship and coaching from local and international experts

  • Additional services such as legal advice, digital optimization, and design support

  • Customized training on topics like pitch preparation, growth strategy, and market analysis

  • Guidance on fundraising strategy and support for due diligence processes

  • Networking and showcasing opportunities at in-person events

The program also offers optional add-ons, such as a dedicated program for female leaders, access to working capital loans, and technical assistance for digital transformation.

Eligibility and Application Process

To be eligible for the SAIS IRP, startups must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered in Africa

  • For-profit

  • Have a minimum viable product

  • Offer a digital or tech-enabled solution for agriculture, food, or livestock

  • Have a management team of at least two people

  • Demonstrate evidence of traction (e.g., paying customers, first revenue)

  • Contribute to climate change adaptation, income generation, and/or food and nutrition security

The application process involves an online form and a selection process that includes interviews. The deadline for applications is September 2, 2024.

Program Timeline

The SAIS IRP follows a structured timeline:

  • August to November 2024: Selection process, including information sessions and application review

  • December 2024 to March 2025: Needs assessment and development planning

  • February 2025: In-person kick-off at the SAIStival event in Nairobi

  • March to September 2025: Execution of the development plans

  • September 2025 to February 2026: Investment exposure and deal facilitation

  • February 2026: In-person graduation at the SAIStival 2026 event
