Egyptian Semiconductor Startup InfiniLink Raises $10M to Advance AI Data Center Connectivity

InfiniLink secures funding to develop energy-efficient optical connectivity solutions for AI-driven data centers.

Cairo-based semiconductor startup InfiniLink has successfully raised $10 million in seed funding to accelerate the development of its advanced optical connectivity solutions. The funding round was led by leading fabless semiconductor company MediaTek and Saudi venture capital firm Sukna Ventures, with additional participation from Egypt Ventures and M Empire Angels. InfiniLink aims to leverage these funds to enhance its innovative chip technologies, which address the rising bandwidth and energy efficiency needs of AI-driven data centers.

Pioneering Optical Connectivity Solutions

Founded in 2022, InfiniLink specializes in the development of cutting-edge semiconductor technology, focusing on high-speed data connectivity for AI-intensive workloads. Traditional electrical and optical interconnects are reaching power and scalability limits as AI-driven applications continue to demand increased bandwidth and energy efficiency. InfiniLink’s Silicon Photonics-based integrated optical transceiver chiplets (iOTC) are designed to overcome these challenges by enabling energy-efficient pluggable transceiver modules and high-bandwidth-density co-packaged optical engines (CPO).

Strategic Investment and Industry Backing

The successful seed funding round marks a significant milestone for InfiniLink, reinforcing its potential to transform data center connectivity. MediaTek’s involvement highlights a strategic partnership that has been cultivated over the past three years, leading to the establishment of MediaTek Egypt. The continued collaboration between the two companies is expected to drive innovation in optical connectivity, further positioning Egypt as a key player in the semiconductor industry.

Statements from Key Investors and Leadership

Ahmed Aboul-Ella, co-founder and CEO of InfiniLink, emphasized the importance of the investment in accelerating the commercialization of the company’s technology. He noted that MediaTek’s expertise and support would be instrumental in bringing their optical connectivity solutions to market. Meanwhile, George Chien, senior general manager at MediaTek, expressed enthusiasm for expanding the partnership, citing the potential to scale their collaborative efforts across the region.

Commitment to Innovation and Global Expansion

Sukna Ventures, one of the key investors in the round, highlighted InfiniLink’s potential in addressing the energy demands of AI-driven data centers. Waleed Alballaa, general partner at Sukna Ventures, praised the company’s pioneering technology and skilled team, reaffirming the firm’s commitment to supporting high-potential startups from the MENA region. With this backing, InfiniLink is well-positioned to accelerate product development, expand globally, and meet the surging demand for high-speed AI connectivity solutions.

InfiniLink’s latest funding round underscores the growing importance of optical connectivity in the AI and semiconductor industries. With strong backing from industry leaders and venture capital firms, the company is poised to redefine data center efficiency with its groundbreaking Silicon Photonics solutions. As AI workloads continue to rise, InfiniLink’s innovations are set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of high-speed, energy-efficient data connectivity on a global scale.
